It appears that she has lost her sight and she continues to stare at lights or the sun when we are outside. She lapses into a coma and the hospice doctor tells us that she is unable to detect any gastric sounds indicating that her digestive system no longer functions. She dies the end of Nov.

It would have been very helpful to me as her caregiver if Fumi had been enrolled into the hospice program at least a month earlier. Primary care physicians must be informed of the speed at which CJD patients lose capability. I don’t think our primary care physician was fully aware of that.
