  • Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship: The University of California, San Francisco Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is now accepting applications for our Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship for the 2012-2014 training period. We are currently recruiting for one position and have a preference for applicants invested in actively pursuing research during their Fellowship. The Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Training Program is a two-year program designed to provide research and clinical training in neuropsychology in a behavioral neurology setting. The Fellowship program provides trainees with experiences required to meet eligibility requirements for the ABPP Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology through the ABCN. Most postdoctoral fellows divide their time between research, clinical, didactic, and administrative activities, although the program is flexible enough to adapt to each individual trainee’s needs. • Staff Research Associate I: The Staff Research Associate (SRA) will participate in several large multi-site clinical trial studies at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center with a multidisciplinary team. The SRA will be responsible for administering standardized neuropsychological assessments. The SRA will also contribute to project support duties that may include completing telephone screens, scheduling subject visits and procedures, maintaining accurate research charts and research study binders, collecting data and data entry, and performing patient follow-up visits according to specific research study requirements. Additional responsibilities include data verification, clean-up and preliminary analysis. The SRA will also conduct in person interviews and complete questionnaires with subjects and caregivers. The SRA will report to the Clinical Trials Administrator and be an integral member of a dynamic team investigating exciting treatments for cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, related disorders, and perform other duties as assigned. Req Number: 37445BR
  • Staff Research Associate I: The associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Suzee Lee, MD, in clinical dementia research in the genetic forms of atypical neurodegenerative disorders, such as frontotemporal dementia and progressive supranuclear palsy. Specific neuroimaging techniques utilized in these studies include voxel-based morphometry, functional connectivity MRI, and diffusion tensor imaging. Familiarity with LINUX-based operating systems, SPM, and scripting in matlab are requirements for this position. Responsibilities will include database queries, data analysis, literature review, neuroimaging methods development. The position represents an excellent opportunity to further develop research skills and learn basic principles of clinical and cognitive neuroscience and perform other duties as assigned. • Staff Research Associate I/II: The associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Keith Vossel, MD, in clinical research in neuronal network hyper-excitability in neurodegenerative dementias. Dr. Vossel is a physician-scientist in the UCSF Memory and Aging Center and J. David Gladstone Institutes. Supervision will be coordinated by Dr. Vossel and Co-Investigators Srikantan Nagarajan, PhD, director of the Biomagnetic Imaging Laboratory, and Heidi Kirsch, MD, in the UCSF Epilepsy Center. The goal of this observational trial is to determine the extent of epileptiform activity in neurodegenerative dementias and the effects of epileptiform activity on brain function. The associate will be responsible for evaluating MEG/MSI (magnetoencephalogram/magnetic source imaging) in research participants with Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, frontotemporal dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and age-matched control subjects. Neuroimaging techniques utilized in these studies include source modeling for dipole localization, functional connectivity, spectral analysis, and statistical parametric mapping to compare studies (MRI, PET and MEG/MSI) on a voxel-wise basis. Training will be provided under direct supervision. The associate may assist with performing the MEG/MSI exams as needed and will perform other duties as assigned.
