The Clinical Nurse I will provide clinical care activities in the out-patient setting research center of Neurology for those with cognitive complaints and at risk for developing dementia in the Memory and Aging Center. Nursing care will be provided in the research programs. The CNI will work under the close supervision of the Nurse Practitioner. The CNI may review medical records to determine eligibility for clinical research projects and they will provide direct in-person and virtual nursing care to patients and families. They will use validated instruments to perform physical, functional, and psychosocial assessments; provide family education, guidance, and support, and document clinical data and communications in appropriate data management systems and the electronic health record. Work may be conducted in-person in the Neuroscience Clinical Research Unit (NCRU), over Zoom video conference, and/or by phone. The nurse will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Advance Practice Nurses, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Pharmacists, and Genetic Counselors to assure patient care, safety and educational needs are met. Non-clinical administrative tasks may include scheduling, participating in team meetings, and helpin with process and performance improvement projects.
