Under the supervision of a Sleep Core Manager and Principal Investigator (PI), the primary responsibilities of this position will include preparing equipment and providing explanations of procedures and equipment to research participants. The Hospital Assistant will be asked to prepare and administer unattended nocturnal ambulatory sleep studies to clinical research participants as well as assist with the maintenance, inspection, and testing of sleep equipment.

The Hospital Assistant must be able to apply understanding of inclusion/exclusion eligibility criteria for protocols, maintain data quality and testing preparation procedures, and assist with data analysis and observation documentation. This position will require having reliable transportation to various locations throughout the Bay Area and will typically take place in a hotel setting. It will require flexible evening hours. It may also require flexible daytime hours. This employee will always be accompanied by at least one additional staff member.


The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and the UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) form a dynamic multidisciplinary research program investigating neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, the research focuses on understanding the clinical and diagnostic features of neurodegenerative brain diseases and how it effects daily living.
