Sushmitha Gururaj, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Sushmitha has an undergraduate degree in biotechnology from Bangalore, India. She earned a master of science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Southern California in the lab of Dr. Daryl Davies, followed by a doctorate in neuropharmacology at the University at Buffalo under Dr. Arin Bhattacharjee. During her PhD work, she studied the role and regulation of sodium-gated potassium channels- Slack and Slick- in sensory neuronal function, using mammalian cell lines and rodent models.

Jessie Carr, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Carr is a postdoctoral fellow in the Yokoyama neurogenetics lab.

Swetha Mohan, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Swetha completed her Undergraduate and Masters in the University of Madras, India. She then worked as a junior research fellow in Dr. Sandhya Koushika's lab at the National Center for Biological Sciences, India, studying mitochondrial transport in neurons and its implications in neurodegenerative diseases. She then completed her Ph.D. at Dr. Michel Leroux's lab at Simon Fraser University where her research focused on understanding the molecular basis of maintaining ciliary structure throughout development, an important aspect in ciliopathies.
