Under the supervision of the Imaging Core Specialist or the Principal investigator (PI), the Staff Research Associate will be responsible for the processing, analysis, and collection of imaging data obtained through multiple projects on aging and neurodegenerative diseases being conducted at the Memory and Aging Center. Responsibilities would include acquiring MRI data, which will involve interacting with patients with cognitive impairment and their families. A large proportion of time will be spent maintaining and executing processing pipelines for imaging data across a range of MR modalities using programs such as SPM, FreeSurfer, FSL and other similar software. The SRA will also be responsible for summarizing data obtained from analyses and presenting them to responsible investigators, and for assisting with preparation of manuscripts including writing up methodology and results and creating figures. Prior experience with brain image processing programs in particular SPM and FSL are strongly preferred. Ideal candidate would have facility with computer programming on Linux, in particular Matlab and Python scripting, or willingness to learn these skills. Knowledge of macroscopic brain anatomy and biology is also strongly stressed. Experience with statistical software such as STATA and R is also desirable.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $28.04 - $45.09 (Hourly Rate).
