- Conditions Studied: Primary progressive aphasia (PPA)
Purpose of the Study
The Chinese Language Assessment Project (CLAP) is dedicated to studying primary progressive aphasia (PPA) in Chinese-speaking populations. PPA is a debilitating and fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by speech and language deficits. This research project brings together clinicians, researchers, and speech-language pathologists from the United States, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to establish a cohort of Chinese-speaking individuals with PPA.
By collecting clinical, linguistic, and neuroimaging data, CLAP aims to improve clinical diagnosis for this underserved population, provide novel insights into the neural basis of speech and language, and ultimately facilitate the development of treatments for this devastating disorder.
