Shirley Chen

Shirley was born in Guangzhou, China, and grew up in Los Angeles. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacology. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a certified pharmacy technician and gained patient care experience in the emergency department and the surgical nursing floor at USC Arcadia Hospital.

Rayna Zhao

Rayna Zhao, BA, MPhil

Clinical Research Coordinator

Rayna was born and raised in Shenzhen, China. She holds an MPhil in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge and dual BA degrees in English and Digital Media from the University of Rochester. At the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, she works as a clinical research coordinator in Dr. Tee’s lab, supporting study coordination and participant engagement for Chinese-speaking populations.

Joanne Wu

Joanne Wu, BS

Clinical Research Coordinator

Joanne (Joe) Wu was born in Taishan, China, and moved to San Francisco at a young age. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology from the University of California, San Diego. As an undergraduate researcher in the Zheng Lab at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she focused on spinal cord regeneration in mouse models.

Fangda Leng

Fangda Leng, PhD

Postdoctoral Scholar

Fangda was enrolled in an 8-year MD program at Peking University in 2013. After obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine degree in 2018, he joined Prof. Edison’s lab at Imperial College London and was awarded his PhD degree in brain science. He continued his clinical program in 2021 and obtained his medical degree in neurology in 2024. He is now a post-doctoral researcher in TeeLab at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, with a focus on neuroimaging research.

Lily was born and raised in Lanzhou, China. She attended the University of California, San Diego and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Design and Interaction and a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience (CBN). At UCSF Memory and Aging Center, she works as a Clinical Research Coordinator who coordinates Mandarin-speaking participants.

Stephanie Hoi Ying Kwan

Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator

Stephanie was born and raised in Hong Kong. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science and Linguistics. At the Memory and Aging Center, she coordinates visits for Chinese-speaking participants. She aims to pursue a graduate degree in speech language pathology in the near future. 

Diana Mei

Clinical Research Coordinator

Diana is a clinical research coordinator for the NIH-designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the Memory and Aging Center, where she coordinates visits for Mandarin-speaking participants. She graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior.

Kevin Lieu

Research Coordinator

Kevin was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He attended UC Davis and graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in neurobiology, physiology and behavior and a bachelors’ of arts degree in psychology. Before joining the Memory and Aging Center, Kevin volunteered at On Lok Lifeways and interacted with Chinese elders in Chinatown. He is currently a research coordinator for the UCSF Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. He coordinates visits for the Cantonese- and English-speaking Chinese participants.
