Rochelle Reyes, BS, MPH
Rochelle-Jan (RJ) Reyes (they/she) is a staff research associate in the de Leon Lab at UCSF. With Dr. de Leon and members of the lab, they support the Bilingualism Study that aims to investigate bilingualism’s effect on healthy aging and neurodegenerative disease. RJ is also a PROPEL scholar at UCSF. Additionally, she holds a lecturer position at San Francisco State University (SFSU), supporting Public Health undergraduates in understanding the relationship between public health issues and biology as well as providing professional development opportunities to learn R programming.
RJ was raised in the Bay Area and received their BS degree in Biology (Physiology) at SFSU in 2018 along with her MPH in Epidemiology at UC San Diego in 2023. Their previous work was in investigating the contributions of women programmers in population genetics as well as promoting computational skills for underrepresented communities in STEM. RJ's long-term career goals are to obtain a PhD degree in Epidemiology with a focus on investigating and promoting healthy aging in underserved and under-supported communities.
