Connor Dietz, MD
Dr. Dietz is originally from Penticton, British Columbia. He studied physiology and physics at McGill University in Montreal, where his research focused on characterizing candidate mechanosensitive ion channels using single-cell electrophysiology techniques. While at McGill, he became interested in neurology, neuropsychology, and brain-behavior relationships after reading the classic works of Drs. Wilder Penfield and Brenda Milner at the Montreal Neurological Institute.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Dietz completed medical school and neurology residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. During this time, he developed a visual imagery neuropsychology test battery under the mentorship of neuro-ophthalmologist Dr. Jason Barton, to investigate i) the durability of remote visual semantic memories in individuals with ocular blindness and ii) visual imagery deficits in patients with posterior cortical atrophy, the visual variant of Alzheimer’s disease.
Now in San Francisco, Dr. Dietz’s current academic interests include clinical trials, molecular imaging, and biomarker development, with the goal of improving diagnosis and treatment for patients with neurodegenerative diseases.
