Josh joined the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center, part of the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, in 2024 as a data scientist. He works closely with the Boxer, Saloner, and Staffaroni laboratories to study frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). His research focuses on two complementary areas: proteomics, to identify fluid biomarkers that could support the development of new treatments, and movement analysis, using wearable sensors to develop digital biomarkers that measure changes in motor and cognitive function.
Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and his doctorate in neuroscience from the University of California, Davis. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF before joining the Fein Memory and Aging Center. Earlier in his career, he worked in the biotechnology industry, contributing to neuroscience product development, drug discovery, brain-computer interface technologies, and wearable sensor development.
