Kristine Yaffe, MD

Professor and Vice Chair

Kristine Yaffe, MD, is the Scola Endowed Chair and Vice Chair, Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Epidemiology, and Director of the Center for Population Brain Health at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Yaffe is dually trained in neurology and psychiatry and completed postdoctoral training in epidemiology and geriatric psychiatry, all at UCSF. In addition to her positions at UCSF, Dr. Yaffe is the Chief of NeuroPsychiatry and the Director of the Memory Evaluation Clinic at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

Stacey Yamamoto

Assistant Director for Program and Strategy, GBHI

As the Assistant Director for Programs and Strategy, Stacey oversees education and training at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) including recruitment and selection, curriculum, and monitoring and evaluation of the Atlantic Fellows Program. She oversees the administration of the Equity in Brain Health Certificate Program at UCSF as well as operational areas of international event management and communications.

Claire Yballa

Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator

Claire is an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator working with the PET Core team in the Rabinovici Lab. She was born and raised in the Bay Area and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Claire was previously an undergraduate research assistant in the High Level Perception Lab and Samaha Lab at UC Santa Cruz, where she worked on projects studying music cognition and the neural basis of confidence in decision making. 

Annie Ye, BS

Care Team Navigator

Annie completed a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2023. As an undergraduate, Annie was a part of Dr. Andreas Schwingshackl’s lab, where she investigated the regulation of cell potentials with novel pharmacological drugs in mediating lung injuries and was awarded the 2023 Dean’s Prize for Research and Creativity. She founded the Language Interpretation in Healthcare Project at UCLA to promote health literacy and aid low-English proficiency communities in accessing adequate healthcare.

Jennifer Yokoyama, PhD

Associate Professor

Jennifer Yokoyama obtained her doctorate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics from UCSF in December 2010 with Dr. Steven Hamilton (Department of Psychiatry and Institute for Human Genetics). Her dissertation comprised work within the Canine Behavioral Genetics Project, utilizing purebred dogs as genetic models for studying neuropsychiatric disease. Clayton Young

Data Engineer

Clayton was introduced to research during his time at UC Davis, where he obtained his BS degree in psychology (biology emphasis). As an undergraduate, he assisted in investigating attention, visual working memory and language processing using EEG/ERPs and eye-tracking. Upon graduating, he gained clinical experience as a psychometrist in a private neuropsychology practice, which led to his interest in working with aging populations.

Monica Zegers Larrain

Postdoctoral Scholar

Mónica Zegers is a postdoctoral scholar at the UCSF Dyslexia Center. She obtained a BA degree in Psychology and a professional degree in Clinical Psychology at Pontificia Universidad Católica of Chile. She earned her MA and PhD degrees in Human Development and Education at UC Berkeley.

Ehud Zeltzer

Behavioral Neurology Clinical Fellow

Dr. Ehud Zeltzer joined the Memory and Aging Center (MAC) in 2021. He graduated from the Medical School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2010. He then served as a flight surgeon and clinic commander in the Israeli Air Force until 2015. He completed his Neurology Residency in Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), where he served as chief resident and passed the Neurology Board Exams with honors.

Jiaxiuxiu Zhang

Neuroimaging Data Analyst

Xiuxiu is a Neuroimaging Data analyst in the RabLab at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center. She obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Imaging from UC San Francisco. Currently, Xiuxiu works on processing and analyzing amyloid and tau PET data to further understand Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementias.

In her free time, she enjoys yoga, running and rock climbing as well as hanging out with her cat Sesame.
