Dr. Geschwind received his MD and PhD degrees in neuroscience through the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center, his neurology residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore and his fellowship in behavioral neurology at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC). He is a Professor of Neurology at the MAC.
Jenna joined the CAN Lab within the Memory and Aging Center in August 2024. She graduated from Boston College in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. While in college, she interned at the Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research at Massachusetts General Hospital, working with Dr. Rush on the development of a psychosocial resilience program for ALS dyads.
Bianca joined the Seeley Lab at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center in July 2024 as a laboratory assistant and helps the Neurodegenerative Disease Brain Bank in the preparation and packing of fixed tissue slides along with other tasks. Bianca received her B.S.
Dr. Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini is a behavioral neurologist, currently directing the Language Neurobiology laboratory of the UCSF Memory and Aging Center and the UCSF Dyslexia Center. She also directs the state-funded Multitudes Universal Screening Project, one of the four reading difficulties risk screeners approved by a state appointed panel for use in California public schools beginning in Fall of 2025. She obtained her medical degree and clinical neurology specialty training in Italy, and has a PhD in the neuroimaging of language from University College London.
Dr. Tobias Haeusermann is a sociologist in the UCSF Decision Lab with Dr. Winston Chiong, where his research aims to understand the ethical concerns in existing clinical applications of closed-loop neuromodulation in epilepsy, movement disorders and mood disorders.
Carmen Hart is the Program and Events Manager for the Global Brain Health Institute. She works closely with the Executive Director and GBHI senior staff to coordinate, manage and plan key aspects and activities of GBHI and the Atlantic Fellows program. She brings extensive expertise in event planning, project coordination, marketing and sales in the healthcare, media, technology and luxury hospitality industries. Before joining GBHI, she managed a contact center team at George P.
Rowan graduated from Middlebury College in May 2024 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Global Health. She joined the UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) in June 2024 as a clinical research coordinator in the Dementia Imaging Genetics Lab led by Dr. Suzee Lee, where she coordinates a study investigating the neurodevelopment of children from families with a history of frontotemporal dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
