Neuroaesthetics

Laura is a Colombian multidisciplinary teaching artist, singer, dancer, and internationalist with a master's degree in human rights. After completing the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program at the Global Brain Health Institute, she joined the UCSF Memory and Aging Center Community Outreach Program. She is also the Project Manager and Music-Centered Workshop Senior Leader at Musicians for Human Rights in Greece.

Sara Wessen Chang is an art historian, curator, and producer with a focus on neuroaesthetics. She serves as an artist and community liaison for arts initiatives at the Memory and Aging Center and the Global Brain Health Institute.
 

Aaron Colverson is a Doctor of Philosophy in Ethnomusicology, with a focus on neuropsychology. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a BM degree in Professional Music focusing on jazz violin performance, after which he moved to Nairobi, Kenya, for two years, embedding himself in East African musical traditions and cultures. He received a fellowship to study music and prosocial interaction in Alzheimer’s disease and endeavors to build cross-disciplinary competency between ethnomusicology and neuropsychology in the context of gerontology.

Gloria Aguirre is an artist and community advocate who has been part of the Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center since 2019. She is an Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and serves as the Artistic Director of Creative Minds, a San Francisco-based community arts initiative advancing brain health. She also works as the Community Engagement Manager for the Fein Memory and Aging Center’s Community Outreach Program.

Camellia Latta is the Program Director for Alumni Relations & Special Initiatives at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) UCSF site. She leads alumni relations work at GBHI to advance a global network of brain health leaders as Atlantic Fellows.

Kate Rankin, PhD, is a professor in the UCSF Department of Neurology and a neuropsychologist at the Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center, part of the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. She specializes in understanding the neuropsychological, neuroanatomic, and genetic foundations of human socioemotional behavior in both healthy aging and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Zachary Miller is a neurologist at the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center, where he specializes in the diagnosis and care of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and primary progressive aphasia. His work bridges clinical care and research to enhance understanding, facilitate early detection, and improve treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

Caroline Prioleau is a writer and designer at the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center and the Global Brain Health Institute, where she has worked for more than 15 years to communicate scientific findings, clinical issues, and patient and caregiver experiences. With a background in science and medicine, Caroline transitioned into graphic design and communications, aiming to make complex information more accessible to everyone.

Bruce L. Miller, MD, is the A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished Professor of Neurology and director of the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center, an NIH-sponsored Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. A world-renowned behavioral neurologist, Dr. Miller specializes in the diagnosis and management of neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on frontotemporal dementia (FTD). His groundbreaking research has advanced the understanding of brain-behavior relationships, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic approaches for dementia.
